Can the R30 GPS range for near station be reduced?

I cant find anything do I assume it can't.

150km seems to be a long way (range). I'd like to reduce that to a more realistic range for when I'm roaming.

Not sure what you mean?

I believe the OP is referring to the Near Station function which allows you to scan by region per the GPS. I keep the GPS on but never used that feature.

At risk of reawakening a stagnant thread I thought I would answer your original question.

Sadly no, the distance within which the Near Station function will flag memories is not adjustable. This is the same for the ID-51 and 52 transceivers, the 705, 8600, etc.
perhaps I’m odd in that I do use the GPS functionality in my R30 (and ID52E) as it is useful for recording locations where signals have been noted, as well as highlighting nearby expected transmissions. Using GPS does add to the power drain but it’s not an enormous extra draw, besides the R30 is easily topped up via USB anyway.

I would suggest having a go with the features to decide if you really like it, despite what some may assert.
