Tried searching first and found various discussions but none that seemed to directly answer this question - what cable is used by the CB-GPSK unit for the SDS200? I know it comes with one, but it's gray and I'd like to use black if I can find one. Is it just a regular 'old phone line' type cable like would go from a wall jack to a phone? Found one post in a thread that seemed to indicate that it was but then the cable he linked to on Amazon (back in 2020) shows (now) to be a reverse/crossover cable and not straight through. Straight through is needed, correct? If you know, please verify that for me.

Look at the cable with the tab sides down on the plugs... If it's using colored wires, see if they match from left to right...

I would but I don't have it in hand yet. It's in shipment. Was going to order a black cable while the unit is in transit.

Mine came with a black 6' cable, standard 4 conductor modular phone connector on both ends. This view is with both tabs facing up so you can see the colors.

OK, good to know. Pictures on the retail sites I've seen all showed gray so I was making an assumption it'd be gray. I guess I'll wait and see unless I find one so low cost it is negligible.

You could go to Home depot or the likes to get a cable... They have black... If you will need it...

Yeah, since it's standard it'll be easy to find. That's what I wanted to verify, that it was standard and not proprietary or whatever.

Both connectors, tab down, side to side must both show the same colors left to right.

It's been a while so I forget if that's a "crossover" cable or "straight thru" cable.

OR
Look at your current gray cable, hold the two connectors tab down, side by side and note the colors left to right in each end. Or just see if the tab on one end is on the striped (raised center line) or flat side and then look at the other end to see if the tab is on the same, or opposite side of the cable. Then make sure the cable you buy matches.

Yeah, wasn't to clear with that post... I should of said make sure the cable you are going to use matches the one from the GPS...
But we know now what the termination is from @fxdscon's post of his GPS cable...

Except mine wasn't that way, side by side, both ends had same color pattern left to right. And both tabs were on the grooved side of the flat cable. But then maybe it doesn't matter.

It's hard to see in the pic in my post #7 above, but both tabs on my cable are on the ribbed side of the cable and the left to right color pattern is reversed. It wouldn't be physically possible to have the same color pattern left to right on both side by side connectors when both tabs are on the ribbed side of the cable... unless the wire colors changed inside of the cable jacket. It's a standard 4 wire modular phone cord, the wiring pattern is referred to as "roll over", or "reversed".

The term "cross over" is more commonly known in ethernet cables where some of the pairs are crossed in an "X" pattern from one end to the other.

Here is a better pic of mine showing both tabs on the ribbed side with side by side colors reversed:

Yeah, I know... Telcomm ind usually refers to it as "Cross or Cross wired", technically, yes it's reversed...
