Sorry to be harsh, but did you even look at the wiki page that DaveIN linked to?? It has a list of compatible GPS receivers. The first one on the list (Garmin GPS 18) has been mentioned on this forum in the past. The Amazon page for it (link on that same wiki page) has a review that says it works nicely with the BCD996T. And, the price at Amazon is about $82 with free shipping.

Don't get the usb version, unless you plan on modifying it , get the PC version, you'll need one that has a serial connection and separate power adapter. :)

good luck

The GPS18 is the way to go. Make sure that you get the one with the RS-232 port on it, not the USB. Change the rear port on your scanner to GPS and away you go. Now, do you have location data in your UASD files?

You will need the RS232 cable. You can use the GPS (battery powered)
http://shop.garmin.com/accessory.jsp?sku=010-10206-00
or the one poweredby cigar lighter (same the GPS battery)

Good luck finding it in the store you found your eTrex in. If you don't find it there, Google for the eTrex RS232 cable, or eBay.

Most of the factory-loaded systems have GPS coordinates entered. If you want it to control systems you program, you'll need to program that yourself.

I used a Legend for a long time (thought it came with the serial cable...maybe they don't include one any more). If there is a Frys in your area, they might carry the cable. Otherwise, you'll probably have to buy it off the web.

...or the LVC version, which you can hardwire and spare the cig lighter(s) for something else. If you're like me, I have way too may toys to plug in. I hardwire everything that's semi-permenant.
