• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

    We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

    If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I have a 2720 its a great GPS (no need for a built in MP3 player and Bluetooth) more rugged than the Nuvi's.

Updating the mapping software is multi step process, you will have to contact Garmin to get the latest software, and register your unit.

City Navigator North America NT 2009 is the latest

I have never had a need for Points Of Interests Loader and do not understand its usefulness? Sorry cant help you there.

You will want to update the unit (firmware), these updates are free:

You are going to return it? Why?

I think the only difference between the 2720 and the 2820 is Bluetooth and MP3 player (dont know why anyone would want a MP3 player built into their GPS, buy a Zune) and about 600-800 dollars.

Check out the specs:

Ye gads! *If* you don't want it *just* because it's a `discontinued' unit PM me and I'll send you my address so that you can send it to me! I can *definitely* put it to use `discontinued' or not! *If* I were to *not* use any of my GPSes because they were `discontinued' I wouldn't have a single one I could use. To be sure there *are* a couple that are a bit `slow' or maybe a `slightly brain dead' because they don't have beau coup' memory or those absurd fingernail sized SD chips but, they still *all* work as `advertised' and do what they were bought for.

Just an `Olde Fart's' 2¢ worth. {VBW GRIN!}
