CBS-11 is also reporting this fire is not being fought on the ground but by Air only at this time due to the size and intensity of the fire. CBS-11 is carrying Live coverage of the fire currently.

Fox 4 & WFAA have also carried extensive coverage. As of 9pm, Fox 4 was reporting that the fire had grown from the 3000 acres being mentioned on the 6pm newscasts to more like 7500 acres. Channel 8/WFAA has an ongoing fire update blog here. (If link changes & no longer works, just go back to the main page to find the new start.)

What a few hours makes in the life of a wildfire. At 1:51 WFAA reported "Firefighters getting the upper hand in PK fire" Firefighters getting the upper hand in PK fire | wfaa.com Dallas - Fort Worth and then at 4:36 they started their blog with "Firefighters losing battle against PK fire" Blog: Firefighters losing battle against PK fire | wfaa.com Dallas - Fort Worth

I guess the old adage is true regarding broadcast news, "It's better to be first than right". Now I do believe that both stories are correct based on conditions at the time, but it might be a bit better to not say all is OK until they actually are and there's reasonable expectations that they'll remain that way. Even WFAA's own weather reports last night indicated that winds would be lower until about mid-day today when they'd pick up strength.
