I don't have a PSR-500 but as of last week bought the PSR-600 and love it! At first it has a bit of a learning curve but once you play around with it you'll get the hang of the controls and features.

Yea I am really looking hard at the 500. gldavis I might be able to tell you soon. I am going down to Vegas and will be stopping by AES this weekend. They have them in-stock and I am really going to consider picking it up.

I am curious how people in this area like them. tbogs thanks for your comment as the 600 is basically the same model. I think you are in Utah??? What systems are you monitoring and do you see an increase in reception and audio quality?

My big draw is that I can allocate the memory how I want (Scannable Objects). With the large amount of memory I can get well over 1000 TGs in there at one time and still have room left over. Currently I am limited to 250 on my current scanner.

I am here in Utah in the West Jordan area. I monitor Salt Lake County, AC33 and the Prison. The reception and audio quality seem good to me...I use the attenuator on the PSR-600 and that makes the audio much better. I was drawn to the PSR-600 for the memory...its nice to store all the TGs that we know and as you have said still have room left over.

Welcome to the Utah Forum of RR.com,
tbogs!

I can see that so far you have done all of your posting in other forums (Trunker/Etrunker/T4Win Decoders and GRE Scanners) so you may very well become the "Go to Guy" if any of this group commits to a GRE scanner, which several of us are looking at very seriously.

I would also urge you to go back to your "User CP" and finish filling out your profile, especially your location so we don't have to keep guessing where you are from when you post here.

Your experience will be greatly appreciated along with your help in our quest to ID the TGs being used here. Again, welcome aboard!

Welcome!
Since you monitor the Prison maybe you can give us a hand getting that part of the database updates. Right now its mostly listed as "Corrections" but with no details as to what everything is.

Thanks for the welcome everyone...I've been watching the forums here for a few months learning news things.

I have some things with the Prison identified but its difficult to monitor because Point of the Mountain and Gunnison are on the same system...still on UCAN but one minute your listening to Draper and next thing you know Gunnison (it all sounds the same). Some IDs associated with Prison coms can only be heard while listening to the Point of the Mountain site while others can be heard throughout the UCAN network and vice versa.

The only draw back I see right now with the PSR-500 & 600 is the recording out option that the BCT-15 and other scanners have. This is how I identify IDs when I'm not actively listening. Other than that I have no complaints.

Viper,
You read my mind about the Prison. I threw it out a while back and did not get a whole lot back. I cant recieve the POM Control Channel from my house, but I do deliver fuel to the State Prison and get it great from there ;), the only problem is I am not there long enough to really get a good feel for much.

At the top of the page there is a button "submit info" just be specific on what system you are updating great info, keep it up and WELCOME!!!!
P.S also please be 100% positive on ID's before you submit them to cut down on misleads.

Thanks I'll get these submitted. These TGs I have listened to and recorded for the past month. I have more but am waiting until I'm more positive as to what they are.
