GSP going digi?

After doing a little digging around in the FCC licenses for Georgia, it appears that for right now the only areas licensed to use P25 are in west central Georgia. Most are using 154.7025 as repeater output, with the Forsyth post on 154.920. All digi sites appear to use 155.4675 as the repeater input for the trooper cars. Interesting to note that the traditional Georgia hi band frequencies are also listed to operate P25 (154.680, 154.800, 154.905, 154.935, 155.370, 155.475) for these west central Georgia posts.
The rest of the GSP posts in the state have licenses recently renewed that only show analog emissions, like northwest Georgia. Hmmm...

The state has submitted an application for modification of license KIB607 to add a P25 repeater on 154.9425 for Thomson (McDuffie County) which is Post 25 out of Troop E. 158.985 looks to be the input.

Took a road trip to the Clayton, Fayette county area. GSP was heard on 154.7025/ NAC 625. Audio is definitely much better than their analog signals.

Does it make any difference to the audio quality, scan speed or other functionality of my scanner (996XT) if I leave no NAC code, or is it better to program the NAC code in, if I have it?

The NAC is the P-25 version of CTCSS/DCS. It makes the scanner listen for the tone. I was using my 396XT. Audio has nothing to do with NAC. Programming the NAC is up to you. I do it to verify that the tone is correct. When I'm searching, I leave it in search mode and write down the code.

Troop "E" may be the next to go digital

On Friday 2/7 at 19:00, GSP Troop "E" broadcast to it's posts to switch over to sheriff's band and they're still on it. Tonight I heard a trooper ask the Monroe Post 46 dispatcher how long they would be using it and he was told "about a month and then we'll have a new system."

Wonder how long before other troops will change over to P-25.

Here's another Troop E GSP license with a pending application to add a P25 repeater:

Indeed they are. P-25 according to the designator.

Thank you! I didn't know if they used both analog and digital, so I will set my 996xt to "Digital" on these freqs.

This will be interesting, is the frequency designation by Troop, by post or what? Glad to see something new, but will miss the standard 2 channel pair used almost statewide

No, set it to ALL. Set the MOD to AUTO. This way if they are still using analog, you will be able to hear them.

Just expanding their frequencies, they will still be using 154.68/154.8.

More new GSP P25 freqs

Snooping around in the FCC files, I found these frequencies now licensed to KA5323, callsign for GSP mobiles. They seem to align with some of the earlier posters hearing P25 repeaters on the air. The freqs with an asterisk * are showing analog only mode, which makes sense since they're interops freqs long in use. All others are licensed for P25. I would imagine some of these are mobile inputs to future repeaters:

There is a trial going on in Troop D with 3 repeaters one at Newnan,Forsyth,and Manchester.There are others coming but I can't remember. Maybe one of them was Grovetown next.

In the Grovetown area I am hearing the 154.7025 frequency as digital noise much like TRBO/NXDN. I am using a PSR-800 which decodes P25. Also, they are dispatching off Sheriff Net.

I heard the same digi noise in Bibb county yesterday. I was hoping they would all be P25 unencrypted
