Gulfport, MS - Police

I would like to monitor Gulfport Police so I can take my little boy around and show him things (accidents, etc. and what happens when you're not careful, etc.). I am 100% ignorant about all things technical. What radio would y'all recommend? I'd prefer a handheld/portable unit. I believe Gulfport PD is using Pro Voice Standard?

You're not going to be listening to the Gulfport Police, or ANY law enforcement agency in Harrison County for that matter of fact. All departments are on Provoice digital and cannot be monitored by any scanner in production.

When they move onto the MSWIN in next couple of years, maybe you can monitor them then if they do not go encrypted.
