If this is true there's more to the story than Fox is reporting. The numbers certainly aren't up because ham radio offers cool new apps, video-on-demand, and video games for the kids. Perhaps it's because of all the disasters we've seen --both domestic and abroad-- and the demonstrated failure of traditional communication systems. Then again, perhaps people are looking for a way to get around the "off switch" congress recently authorized for the Internet and phone system in case of "national emergency". Will we see a price spike on HF radios like we have with hand guns? There's more to this story than just the numbers.
