Ham Radio/Reciever Recommendations.

Ive been looking into ham receivers and i found it to be very interesting. Ive been looking for a hobbie to keep me occupied. Ive read a little on number stations and other frequencies that have been broadcast on shortwave and i find it very interesting. I have several scanners, analog and a digital one. I love listening into the police, fire, and anything else i can listen to. I love to be in the know and hear whats going on. My question is what kind or type of radio would be good for me to keep me occupied. Ive been looking into ham radios but some are quite expensive. When i purchase something, quality always comes first. What would you all recommend for me.

Ham Radio/Receiver recommendations

First of all, welcome to RR, you've made a very good choice joining this group as you shall see as time progresses. Read the RR WIKI section on HF receivers & other 2-30 MHz radio topics that may be of interest to you, also post any query you may have on the respective forum for a speedy reply. Personally for the money I have always favored the ICOM R-75 HF receiver, if that becomes your choice make sure the one you purchase has the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) module already installed, it can be had for an affordable price too, Enjoy.

+ 1 as well for the Icom-R75 and the Palstar-R30 got them both and theY are excellent HF receivers.
