This was posted on the Hampton page as news from 23 Feb 08.

"Hampton City Budget has allocated $1.5 million upgrade for existing radio system to P25 compliance as well as $17.5 million upgrade for a new radio system in 2012."

This does not bode well for those of us who live or work in Hampton (or go to Baydays). This will almost certainly be a Provoice system. :(

I noticed this while checking some talk groups I found this week listening to an exercise on Langley. I did find some new talk groups related to the exercise, but could never get enough info to figure out who the were related to. It was a mobility exercise with mock attacks and such. That will be another post and I'll submit those not on the list to the DB.

We're going to Pro-voice in Rockingham County as well. I am still confused on how Pro-voice is P-25 compliant? It seems that a different digital format would not meet the standard.

Well, if this info is correct, Provoice isn't APCO-25 compliant.

As to a scanner able to receive Provoice, let's not go there. :D It's been discussed (often with the 'dis' missing) in the past.
