• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,
Does anybody know if the Harris XG-75 is capable of Front Panel Programming (FPP). I have multiple Harris XG-75 radios, two of them have full keypad and the other two have partial keypad. Is it possible to do FPP with the full keypad versions to program in a frequency? If so how do you do this? I’m also having problems with the battery but I’m not sure if it’s because of the charger. I have the Global Technology Systems (GTS) charger for the Harris XG-75 battery and whenever I charge it the radio still always has low battery so I’m guessing it’s either a problem with the battery or the charger? Also whenever the radio is turned on I get the ERR 0552. What does this mean? I received these radios a while ago from a friend who used to work for Harris and I’m not sure how to make them work if they do work. When I turn on the radio it gives the brief ERR=0552 but then it turns on and displays CH 01 for example under CNV DIG. It also displays the channels under CNV ALG, CNV G2 and CNV G1. When I go to CNV P25, EDACS LY, EDACS G1 and EDACS G2 it says INV SYS which I’m assuming means invalid system and that the radio will not support these options. I’m also not sure if this is a VHF, UHF or 700/800 radio. People have told me based on the size of the tiny antenna that it is 700/800 radio but I’m not sure. I’m really just trying to figure out if these radios can be functional for any kind of use. I will put a picture of the radios down below. If these radios don’t support FPP than I assume I would have to get programming software to get any kind of use into programming these radios. Based on this information, do you think that these radios are functional for any kind of use? Thanks, any information is helpful!

They require RPM to program them. New channels can not be added through the keypad.
Okay thank you for this information. Based on the other information that I said, do you think that these radioed will function properly if programmed?

Depends on what you are trying to program them for, the features enabled in the radio.firmare,DSP files and the version of RPM being used to program them. Not an easy question to answer without knowing these specifics.

Based off the pictures posted and some of the information you provided... These radios were ALT/DEVELOPMENTAL radios from Harris corporate, this means they were likely never meat to leave their facilities under any circumstance. It is highly likely these radios are running a test or developmental firmware and software which will not be compatible with any standard RPM version. I'm not saying it's completely impossible, but it's not very likely.
