Has anyone tried one of these chargers? If so, were there any problems?

I see multiple mentions of its current capacity, but no mention of voltage. If the intent is to charge the battery, you need to know the output voltage. I believe that the radio will need at least 12 volts DC to charge the battery.

IIRC, the factory charger is 7.2 Volts. I will double check in the daylight hours.

For the TH-D72 & TH-D74, the output of the switching wall-wart chargers is the same - 13.8VDC @ 650 milliamps.

This is the charger that came with the TH-D72 I bought in 2010:

And this is from the charger that came with my TH-D74, purchased in late 2016:

The SPS-12-011A is what I have here, too. Not sure if it came with my D72 or my F6, as I think they both came with that model charger.

I think I confused my TH-78 charger voltage with the newer models. (I'll claim sleep deprived stupidity.)

I had a TH-F6, and it had the same switching wall-wart as the TH-D72 & TH-D74. Seems like Kenwood has been consistent with many accessories for its HTs over the years...
