Haven't seen any complaints lately about the infamous widespread cold solder joint problem with J401 of the SDS100. Maybe they finally fixed it with the latest production run?
I believe that Joe Bearcat indicated, some time back, that he had referred the issue to the production division & that it was being addressed.

In any event, there have been many, many, fewer complaints about the CSJ the last few months. The small number of reports that appear to be CSJ-related apparently to be for older units (based on how long the poster indicated how long they had owned the scanner), and probably were earlier units that, up to now, had not experienced CSJ symptoms, or that operation of the scanner had not been impaired enough to prompt a concern until now.

My SDS100 is an early production unit, but so far, no problems. That is obviously PDL, not any 'skill & control' on my part.

Was wondering that myself since I am now experiencing the issue. I am about to send it for repair.

I was concerned about this with my SDS100 purchased new in March 2022, but it hasn't even gotten warm yet after running, plugged in or not plugged in, for up to 8 hours straight at a time. Whatever battery issues or heat that was causing it before, It seems likely fixed.

Will uniden repair the issue if I submit a ticket for it?
There was no repair campaign issued by Uniden for that, so if your scanner is out of warranty, the standard flat rate repair charge would probably apply as it has for others.

Best to call Uniden and ask them directly.
