Is this possible? I'm not getting anything, and am wondering if I have misprogrammed the scanner, or if I just can't get the signal from here.

Yes. I hear oodles of non trunked stuff, some of it quite a bit more distant.ScannerDude244 said:Is it the Santa Clara city 800mhz trunking system?
I'm Not hearing anything on the trunked system-- I'm guessing it's a programming issue; while I am actually good at programming the scanner, I'm not very good at 'reading' frequency charts to know what to program (for example, I set up the San Mateo trunked system wrong three times, but not because I couldn't program the scanner-- but because I didn't know it was "UHF").trooperdude said:Santa Clara has two VHF fire patches from their 800 trunked system so the
volunteers can hear what's going on via their legacy VHF pagers.
Are you hearing the VHF patch, or you are hearing the actual 800mhz
trunked system ?
Several channels on their 800 system are high-level, so it's not a problem
to hear them from Palo Alto.
If you are not, you are having either programming problems, or an antenna issue.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in.

Inside or outside ?
I can get Santa Clara just fine on my Pro96 with the RS 800 duck in
Palo Alto.
