• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I saw a pic somewhere of a mobile feedline assembly of what appears to be 1/4" Heliax; NMO on one end and N male on the other. Anyone know where I can find something like that?

That would probably be custom made.
The slight difference in power transfer between the TFE coax used for 800 MHz up and 1/4 heliax in the short run of a mobile install is going to be pretty negligible. Most customers and shops are not going to pay for the extra amount of time it would take to try to run and terminate the heliax or for the connectors.

I have never seen it advertised in any catalogs anyhow.

Good luck

I've never seen one. Even the FSJ1-50 is kind of stiff for mobile use.

If you really need that, you can get NMO mounts that have N connectors on the base. You can then attach your own cable.

Thanks; that's a good idea.
The one I saw was a complete antenna kit that was being sold with a 900 MHz radio. It is an Antenna Specialists RSPG1860T, if I'm reading the package correctly. But I'm not having any luck finding one to use with my TK-981.
I'll look for what you describe. I think that will solve my problem.

If you are just looking for an NMO mount that will work with your 900MHz radio, and if this is a "normal" mobile install, you shouldn't have any issues using the standard NMO mounts with the LMR-195, LMR-200, or even the dual shield RG-58. I've even seen a few running RG-400. I'm using standard NMO mounts with dual shield RG-58 at work on our mobiles, no issues. If your system is designed right and you use a good antenna, the slight additional loss in the coaxial cable won't be an issue.

Thanks. Yeah, with 10 feet of feedline almost anything will work. I just saw that antenna kit and figured that would be ideal if I could find one. If not, no biggie.
