Wow, been awhile since this came up I'll bet.
Assuming you are talking about the
Clark County System, you must first program the frequencies in, in trunking mode before you can enter TG's.
Follow these steps:
1. Decide on what frequency bank you are going to use, turn the radio on and if it comes up "scanning" then press and hold the <TRUNK> button. One of two things will happen. Either it will stop scanning and go to a channal and just say there or it will beep and the display will start to flash with the word "TRUNK" in the second line. (If it does the first, just release the button and press and hold it again.)
2. When the dispaly is flashing "TRUNK" press the number button cooresponding to the bank you want to use for the system. Then enter the 16 frequencies in the table of frequencies from the site here (see link above). You can enter them in any order, but putting them the way they are listed is easier to verify later. Remember to advance to the next channel number before entering the next frequency.
3. Once you have entered all of the frequncies, press the <SRCH> button and the scanner should start scanning for the current Control Channel. Once detected it will lock on and the display should show "TRUNK" in the upper left corner and "SRCH" on the bottom line with some dashes in the middle.
At this time you should be able to hear traffic and follow conversations although you won't have any TG's programmed. To program specific TG's in specific scan banks start with 4.
4. Press the <MANUAL> button, and then start entering TG's by entering the TG number, "E" and advance to the next. You can enter 50 TG's (5 groups of 10 each) into the 5 scan banks.
Hope this helps you out.
