Did you assign a Quick-Key to the system you created? If not, you won't be able to toggle that system on and off for scanning from the keys. You can of course go back into the menu system and turn that system on for scanning manually, but that's pretty inconvenient, so most use Quick-Keys so you'll want to assign one.

Watch out for toggling all your groups off, or if using software, forgetting to allow it to enable them.

At first, I found the pre-loaded systems confusing and conflicting with my own programming, so I did a total reset to get to a clean slate to start with. This is an option you may want to look into as well.

help

thanks for the replys to previous request. I downloaded the suggested site and was very helpful. I have the info available from RR, but am still confused. I have the walla walla wa. radio info. now the questions are as follows, what is "system"? is it Washington? what is channel group? is it the name of the individual freqs? such as ems, sheriff, city police, sp? I know the freqs. are in fm. some of the sp are in p25 and some in nfm. can these be programed in the same group?

This might help conceptually: http://www.grove-ent.com/SCANNERPROGRAMMING.htm

There is a slight difference for the current crop of scanners. For trunked systems, instead of a "System Frequencies" option at the System level, these are now in the "Sites." You create at least one site for your trunked system, and enter that site's frequencies in the site menu's "Frequencies" setting (if the system has more than one site, you'd program more than one site into the scanner).

I can not get the programed freqs that I installed to come on screen. when I turn on the scanner, Alaska comes on and is in the window. I do get the hits from my input and shows the freq. but then goes back to Alaska. how do I keep it on my choice?

Each pre-programmed system has a quick key listed here:Easier to Read BCD996XT Digital Scanner Manual While scanning, just hit"." and then 2 and 1 to stop Alaska. Then your programmed freq's should always come up. If you really mean "hold" on them until you want them to start scanning, then I think you just hit Hold while they are active(talking)
