Before we can provide assistance, we need to know what kind of scanner you have. That will give these guys a direction to take you.

Oh ok is the digital trunking scanner an expensive purchase? Also do you know of any other frequencies that I can listen to..I found the live feed on here, but would love to have other ones to listen to on my scanner? Thanks!

Yes, compared to other scanners a digital trunking scanner does cost considerably more. Usually $400 - $500 no matter which make or model.

Yes, I'm sure there's a bunch of stuff you can listen to on your scanner. What are you interested in listening to? Fire, Police, Rescue, Ham?

It maybe a bearcat, but WHAT model number on it? You can go to the west virginia database(click on database up on top of this forum, then select West Virginia on the map, then the county you are in,you will see a list of frequencies......). Just saying it's a uniden bearcat doesn't tell us what model it is(should be a number on your scanner)

Yea,your scanner is a basic analog scanner,it won't do digital frequencies, just your common analog frequencies. Like I said earlier ,you should be able to get the basic conventional frequencies for your county and any city near you(for the stuff you want) Click on mike's link above for Monongalia county and you will have your pick of the frequencies you need to put in your scanner(all those are conventional frequencies, ignore the trunked stuff and the WVIRP).

If you are interested in finding a digital scanner and are not opposed to purchasing a used one and saving a few bucks, I can suggest a few places to try.

First I would educate yourself as to what types will work best for your area. In WV you will need a digital trunking scanner capable of P-25 systems. By all means, ask questions of these fine folks to find the proper model(s) to search for. Check here for more details:

Category:Radio Models - The RadioReference Wiki

Then check for the models at:
Radio Reference Classified

All Ads - RadioReference Classifieds

Ebay

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

Craig List

SearchTempest - The EASY way to search Craigslist

I have never paid over $300.00 for a digital scanner and I have 5. A word of warning, I would make sure that anyone I would deal with would be willing to accept payment through PayPal for both of your protection if dealing with a credit card of bank account.

Happy monitoring.
