• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

All:

I have two GE/Ericsson Monogram conventional mobile rigs, (item
#344A4210P2, (40W high band) that I need to program. I already have the software, (TQ3375), but I am in need of a compatible programming cable, which is parallel on one end, and the other mates with the EPROM in the rig.

Research has given me the following GE part numbers:
1. TQ3376 Programming Cable VHF, UHF Conventional VHF, UHF, 19D904589P1

2. TQ3375 Programming Software VHF, UHF Conventional VHF, UHF, (I have).

Can you guys help or offer suggestions? I hate to ditch these rigs, but the are not worth much to me if I cannot program them. Any help is appreciated.

The MAXON version of this radio is the SM4150. As far as I know, you can program the Monogram version with the Maxon PC cable -or- the Maxon SMP4000C standalone EEPROM programmer.

Might try a search for the Maxon stuff. It seems to be more readily available than the Monogram line......

Thanks for the tip. I already have the GE software, and I hope I can get away with using the Maxon cable without having to buy their software as well.

Anyway, thanks again.

Have all the stuff, but DOS program locks up Win2000 PC

Hi, new to the forum...

I have the afforementioned equipment to the letter. I installed the SW, launched the Monogram.bat (the programming interface). It lets me pick setup, but when I try and do a read I get...

A dialog screen that says: Turn on the radio holding down the "P" button until the busy light goes out, then hit any key and press-and-release the monitor button to read the radio.

All that happens is the task manager CPU usage graph hits 100%, and it never seems to read the radio...

Any suggestions?

more than likely, need to run that software from a real dos prompt on a slow computer (pentium1 or older).
you could try booting your faster computer into dos, only trial & error will tell if the fast computer in dos mode will work.

most old dos software does not like to run on a fast computer.
the only software I know of that will run on a p4 or fast celeron is all the old dosware like GE/Ericsson EDACS1, 2 & 3 plus the MPA & Rangr Conventional stuff. most anything else will crash or possible damage your radio......

Looking for source of TQ3375

Where can I order a copy of the TQ3375 software? I have the cables, just need the software for the VHF Monogram conventional portable radio.

Thanks,

How to program the SM-4450 using EPROM programmer

Hi,

I spend few weeks myself trying to learn the secrets of programming the SM-4450 until I reached a french site (http://f5jtz.free.fr/pjacquet/tous-maxon.htm) which had all the necessary data to extract the procedure to successfully program the device.

What you need is an EPROM programmer that can program 93xx EPROMs. I found one at work - so it was easy. On eBay you can get them for $10 + S&H..

Extract the 93C46 chip from the radio and use the SMP-4001 software
http://f5jtz.free.fr/pjacquet/maxon/smp4001/smp4001.zip

Run the software, select the right SM-4xxx radio you have and setup all the channel data you need. Save it as a file - let's say you call it MAXON. It produces MAXON.CHN files which are binary file.

Copy the file MAXON.CHN to a MAXON.BIN and efit Use a hex editor (I use PSPAD) to edit the file. What you need to do is to extract the 128 bytes which are the EPROM image.

Delete the first 0x5e bytes and then truncate the file to 128 bytes. Program the image (make sure it's 16 bit mode) and viola!

Worked for me..

You can also use google to translate the French website and learn many more mods you can do (like turning the radio to a 100 channel beast..)

Good luck!

Moshe
