I'm hoping to find someone on here who would be willing to program my 87-year-old mom's 2 scanners for the Greensboro area. She just moved here from Myrtle Beach, and her radio isn't picking anything up here. She has a RadioShack Trunktracker, and a hand-held Uniden, too. All she wants to do is listen, and neither of us really has a clue how to program one. If anyone would be willing to do this, I'd be glad to bring the radios to you. Hoping to find a fireman or policeman who would be willing to do this.

Please send me an email to Stamperhog at AOL dot com, if you might be able to help with this.

Thanks,
Lynn

Lynn,

Can you tell us the model numbers of the two scanners.

Regarding the Radio Shack scanner, there's a good possibility it can be easily cloned by someone in the Greensboro area who already has a local scanning file put together. Or, with the proper cable, you may be able to download software from the Internet, and load the file yourself into the scanner.

Someone might also be able to help with the Uniden.

Either way, a person with the right software - and a Greensboro area scan file - could easily program the scanner via a laptop, rather than the tedious task of hand programming.

Jeff, thanks for your reply. The hand held one is a Bearcat BC60XLT and the RadioShack one is a Pro 2050. I also *do* have another hand held one that is a BC245XLT, which I was "keeping in reserve" until I found out how to use these things. I had planned to program it, if I was ever able to get one of these others to work. The 60XLT was one that she got years ago, just to carry in the car or to use in emergency situations. But it has not been very useful. I'd LOVE to find some easy way to program them... as they are now, they just keep scanning and scanning, and never get anything. Do you know if any of these can be programmed by computer, and how I'd go about finding someone who has the 'right stuff' to do it??

Thanks!
