If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey guys.

If someone has the capabilities to program the Maxon/GE Monogram TP4800 800 EDACS portable please PM me. My regular avenues of assistance have dried up, so help would be appreciated.

I just bought 2 of these units off ebay. Was hoping I could program like the Bearcast 235XLT, but apparently not.
Please PM me any details.

I understand a cable and software is needed.

You need TPP480

The RIB box you need is called the TPP-480 box. You connect the RIB box to the top of the walkie. There are some direct connect cables available but I've not heard great things about them. Thankfully, Maxon is not as particular about Motorola in needing a door stop computer to program it. I do keep my Pentium M around as it has the best success. You need TPP480 that runs under DOS. You need a dos boot disk or CD. Remember to load the RSS (TPP480) on that disk also or you can just access it on C:. Also remember you need a serial cable to hook the 9 pin connector on the RIB box to your computer. You can try a USB to serial but if you got a serial port on your computer, use it and also use what is called a null modem. It switches the tx/rx lines and makes it work. If you don't do that, it will frustrate you to no end.
I use these TP-4800's for Itac and 8tac purposes, 800 simplex comms, and accessing our local 800 repeaters with no trunking.
