Help Setup HDSDR

Hi All.

Ok, I got for Xmas a Chinese RTL2838UHIDI SDR Radio. It arrived today. I can't get it to work on HDSDR software. If I track Aircraft with ADSBSharp it works perfectly. I just don't know the settings in HDSDR. A bit of a discretion of the DRS. It is not a dongle it comes in a metal box with 2 antenna connections and a mini usb port. It comes with a uhf/vhf antenna. There may be a off set freq of 40 MHz, I don't know where in the software to put it. I am at a loss. you get no instructions of any sort with it. I looked on YOUTUBE there is a ham that bought one and set it up but it is not in English and was of no help. I would really like some help, someone out there has one of these. So please help before I go nuts. I am way to old for this.

Thanks! that may help. I have it so it will receive but it is weak. The noise levels on 70/80, 20, 20,17, 15 meters is in the S-1.5 range. Very low signals are barely above the noise. The antenna I am using is a homemade dipole cut to 40 meters. It is fed with a very long run of RG-58U. I am disappointed in the SDR. I expected better. Works great above 30 MHZ, but trash below.

Is it rated for HF? I thought most of those RTL sdr dongles didn't do HF without a converter?

RTL2838UHIDI SDR Radio

This is sold as a RTL-SDR covering from 100 Hz. to 1.7 GHz. The above 30 MHz. works well, the lower bands have a lot of trash (am/fm and noise). I do not recommend this to anyone. It is a mod done to the SDR to get the HF bands. The HF bands have a very low signal. I have to turn up the volume on the computer and the HDSDR software to the max to hear anything. I would not buy anything from "zjchao". I complained the tried to only give me a 50% refund, and keep the SDR. I got them up to 65% and keep the SDR. The 30 Mhz. and above are like any SDR it works good there. It comes with a antenna that works for 2 meters and 70 Cm. so that works out good for me I will put it on my Baofeng when I am in the car or one of the scanners. This is not a quality Chinese device. I am not happy with it, I expected more from it.
