Hi all,
So I’m looking to listen to Brant County Fire. I have a Baofeng DM32, capable of Digital and Analog. I can hear the analog page outs, however I can’t hear anything digital on the RadioReference listed frequencies and info I plugged them into the radio.
I double and triple checked the CC, TG, and Slot, but still nothing. I’m looking to hear maybe any on scene talk to dispatch, or dispatch acknowledgment. Is this possible?

Any insight would be appreciated!

When there is a call do you see any activity on your radio? ie RSSI bar graph lights up etc?

I have a DM32 as well and it actually sounds really good on DMR. Programming it on the other hand is a different story as the CPS is complete trash. I often find that scan lists and some channel details either don't get sent to the radio at all or are complete gibberish, so be sure to double check your channel settings thru the radio menus itself.

I do see activity on the graph showing it’s receiving something. I’ve combed through all the settings on CPS and in the menu, but I still can’t figure it out. I even tried a shot in the dark and making the DMR channel Ana. All I got was static.
I’m at a loss. I figured I must be doing something wrong, or they are encrypted or something.

They definitely were not encrypted the last time I was thru there. Key things are obviously the frequency along with the group code, colour code and time slot. You should also be able to use promiscuous mode to listen. Without the proper DMR details (which without the radio in my hand) I couldn't tell you how to enable, haha. I'll check the codeplug from my Moto radio this afternoon and let you know what settings I used.

Thank you for the help, I had plugged everything into it, as I found it listed on RR, but to no avail, I will look into Promiscuous mode and see what i can come up with!

I regularly receive their transmissions on SDR-Trunk. Sometimes it's clear to me, but other times the signal is a bit weak to be properly decoded by SDR-Trunk where I am. They use 152.780 MHz with CC 9, and they use talkgroup 45 for fire ops 1 (on timeslot 2). I haven't seen them use other TGs much, if at all.

I listen to Brant County and Brantford Fire regularly on my SDS100, SDS150, SDS200. Give me a call, Steve: 647-230-7226

One thing to check is bandwidth. Analog and DMR use a different bandwidth.
There is no indication that Brant County is Simulcast (DMR) Norfolk and Halton are simulcast in the area which requires DMR

Thank you, I will get that setup and see if that changes anything. I am located in Brant so I should get a stronger signal. I have a 7/800 XTS5000 for Brantford, then I got this one for VHF. But I am still thinking maybe the radio isn’t capable of decoding transmissions.

I was there last weekend and heard a transmission on one of the Brant County DMR channels. Unfortunately I was driving and didn't look at the display so I can't tell you which one. All my programming for Brant County is straight from the database here.

I redid the programming with just TG 45 and I’ll see if that makes a difference.
Thank you the input!
