• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I've been away from computers and radio programming for awhile. Open heart surgery.
I have the HT1000, rib and programming cables and programming. I forgot how to run the program.
I have a old laptop with Vista on it. I have programmed the MTS2000 and HT1000 on it.
I know where the "Comand Prompt" is. I don't know the next step.
I have the MTS2000 programming software on a disk from Motorola. All that I remember. I'm just stuck where to run the file from and how to get DOS to read it.

Thanks,
Took me a few days to ask for help...seems stupid. Hope my memory gets back to where it was.

If I recall correctly, you just have to enter HT1000 after the command prompt of the drive letter your floppy is. That's it. You could also do ht1000.exe

Make sure you run the ht1000 in a pure dos environment. If not it may fail to read or write the radio or not do it at all.

My problem is I do or know where to actually store the file so it can be read by dos.
I put the program in a folder on my desktop. If I just put "HT1000" after the prompt it does not understand what I want it to do.
I think I need to name the folder, and.put it somewhere, and then type? after the prompt.
Thanks.

MTS2000 software will not program an HT1000.

You'll need to find where the HT1000 software is installed in your computer. Try looking under c:/rss/ht1000 or possibly c:/mrss/ht1000.

Once you find the correct directory, you just type ht1000.

I do have software for both radio. Also own both radios. I haven't programmed these radios in over 16 years. I only need help getting the HT program to run in dos.
Forget the mts2000 I remember all about programming the radio.
Just tell me what to call the folder where I keep the program. Where to put the folder and what I type in dos to start the program.

Name the folder whatever you want. Then put all the ht1000 files in it. In your windows explorer right click the ht1000 exe file and look at its path. Copy it down then type it in the dos command. Maybe try cd\ c:/rss/ht1000 then once in the directory it is in type ht1000.exe press enter as mentioned above.

See just how much DOS we have forgotten over the years.

Most RSS, radio service software, was installed in the MRSS directory. Each in it's own separate sub directory of MRSS.
