I was recently given a Yaesu FT-70DR, but when I try to program it, it displays an error message, both on the radio itself and on the software. Why would this be, and how can I fix it?

It would help if you provided the error message, as there are more than one.

firstly, dont use Chirp to program Yaesu Fusion radios
the factory software works just fine
Chirp is great but not for these radios
it can and has fouled them up

as for Windows port issues, I have no knowledge
And Yaesu won't honor the warranty if Chirp bricks your radio.

The free Yaesu software is usable, barely... If you anticipate having multiple programmable radios, the best bet is getting the RT Systems software for each one. It make it very easy to move programming from one radio to another.
