• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is there anyone out there that has an old Uniden Madison or President Madison or even a Cobre 139GTL that they're willing to part with? If so please reply or contact me. I have an old base that used to work great but now has some problems for which I just can not fix without the proper parts. I'm a hobbyist and am relatively good at working on these. Unfortunately I allowed another tech to take a look at it and they took the transmitter relay out of it and gave it back to me. This has rendered this radio inoperable. If anyone has the knowledge of how to build a new circuit without the need for a second radio that also would suffice.

So, do you have a Uniden or President Madison? There is a big difference in the circuit boards used in the President versus the Uniden branded radios. The President Madison used a uPDC858 PLL and the Uniden Madison a MB8719/MB8734 PLL. The 858 boards used a plug in relay to control the transmit and receive circuits, whereas the 8719/8734 boards used transistors. Parts don't normally interchange between the two, as they are quite a bit different. If it is a President then it uses the same relay as most other 858 boards like the President Washington, Grant, Cobra 138 and 139XLRs, Realistic TRC 457,458 and 459. Those relays can be bought from Ebay for about $12.00. Just look for them under Realistic TRC 458/457.

Thank you for responding to this post. I apologize it took me so long to respond. I wasn't notified about your reply. I actually own 3 of these radios now. One 8719 and two 858. I'm currently in the process of restoring them.
I feel in love with these old base radios when I was younger. I had many different powerful rci type radios back then outputting a significant amount of power. I actually purchased a uniden Madison with the digital clock for $200 on eBay I was so amazed when I plugged that thing in, began shooting skip and someone actually responded to me! Lol I had a galaxy base at the time transmitting crazy power and never once had people answer back to me like this. It made me really appreciate the quality of the electrical components made when these were produced as opposed to the cheap Chinese **** we now utilize today.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for the information. I comprehend the complexity a little bit more today than I did back then. There aren't many people I know today much interested in the hoddy. Any help I can get when needed is greatly appreciated.
