• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Ok this is what I have:

1 Motorola GR1225 UHF base/repeater station
1 Cresend 100 watt UHF PA deck
1 Zetron ZR310 Shared repeater unit
1 set of zr310 to gr1225 15 pin cables
Official 1225 RSS, RS232 Motorola RIB and a old pentium D class PC.

I have a commercial community repeater license but the repeater is currently operating as-is without the Zetron CR controller installed (one customer but more are to be added very soon so time is of the essence here)

What I need is a STEP BY STEP procedure on how to set the repeater and the Zetron up and program it. I have read and downloaded the info on the GR300 system (how to connect and program, etc.) and I can only assume that it is the same procedure but I need someone to confirm this for me please, Do I just connect the controller and program the controller via the 1225 RSS, or is there some special procedure?

I want to be absolutely sure before I goto the tower site and start plugging things in and reprogramming radios.

Any help would be greatly appriciated

So Cali
You will have to have a calibrated service monitor to do the level settings in the Zetron.

Software is GM300 and that only runs in REAL DOS. Same cable as GM/R1225.

Honestly that's why for mine (i750r hooked into CDMs) is just going to be sent into a shop to be set up. I have the RSS for the panel but don't want to fight through setup without manuals and a service monitor. I'll just give them my specs and pay the man.

Thanks guys, I have a recently calibrated IFR1200 service monitor (also have a Motorola one too) and an OLD DOS laptop with all the original Motorola RSS on it. I will take both the DOS and Windows laptops just in case though.
Just want to cove all the "bases" before actually bringing the system down and making the modifications over the weekend of course. I don't want to have this system offline no longer than needed.

I envy you.... have a Toughbook on my ebay watch list to dual boot XP and DOS for those instances - but no cash for a service monitor otherwise I'd be doing all the work myself.

SOLVED!

I had to create a "Master" talkgroup (as I call it) for the CWID and remote programming options and add it to the "Carrier Repeat ID" field before it would start decoding DPL... Weird but now its working ok

Win for Motorola's incomplete manuals!
