I have a pro 97 and it is programed for edacs so is does not beep after each transmission but Can you set it to just stay on one channel without the beeps??

no, because if you do leave it on one channel you will miss everything else going on. The only thing you can do is lock out tags {talkgroups}. Then you will only hear the tags {talkgroups} you want.

You can set it to monitor only one TALKGROUP (let's say, police dispatch for example) and then it will follow only that talkgroup and nothing else without the "beeps".

Three other methods to hold on police dispatch;
1. when the scanner stops on that TG, press TRUNK until ID hold appears
2. program only that TG into the scanner and scan in Closed Mode
3. press PGM>TRUNK, navigate to the TG using the up/down buttons, then pressFUNC>TRUNK
