3 More Shot in Englewood

Last night had 3 more shot in the Englewood area (7th District-Zone 6). 50 year old male shot in both legs at 55th Loomis and was taken to Stroger Hospital. 26 year old male was shot in the abdomen at 67th Honore and was also taken to Stroger Hospital. The 2nd victim from this shooting made an appearance about a 1/2 mile away and he took a ride to Holy Cross Hospital. All this within an hour of each other...just another day on Zone 6.

Attention Grabber

Another typical day on Zone 6 with the normal drama..robberies, burglaries in progresses etc. until something really catches your attention. At 1352 Hrs. 834 was assigned to a "house on fire" in the 4100 block of west 77th pl. in the Ford City Mall area. Second call comes out with in a minute that an ambulance was responding for a burn victim. Third call came out shortly thereafter that a man threw gasoline on his girlfriend and she's on fire. Offender did flee but she was conscious at the time and was able to give offender information. Great work by the dispatchers on this as they were able to Sound-X info on the victim so a plate and description of her car could be broadcast as this was the vehicle he fled in. Burbank, Oak Lawn were notified due to the location of incident. You never know what you'll hear anymore.

Offender No More

At 1454 Hrs. Zone 6 put out a call to assist fire with man bleeding in a car at 61st Richmond. Second call came in as man shot in white Malibu, which was the vehicle the offender fled in. Third call was a man shot in car. Beat 835 pulled up and confirmed it was the wanted vehicle and the offender "took care of himself", meaning in CPD terms he shot himself. Amb. 54 transported him to Christ Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head where he was later pronounced. Imagine the court costs he saved us all!

I'm on this one too. Isn't it ironic that the boyfriend is going into Christ near DOA per ambo 54 (Holy Cross MED 3) and the girlfriend is being transported out of Christ to Loyola Burn Center at the same time!

Make some popcorn boys and girls...Zone 6 is hoppin!

Tempers are Rising

23 year old male shot in the chest in the 3100 block of west 59th st. Amb. 21 took him to Mount Say Good Bye Hospital (Mount Sinai Hospital). 3 more shot in the 5200 block of South King Drive. Heard quite a few simulcasts of shots fired throughout the day, I guess they finally hit someone.

Last night caught 3 shootings...7100 S. Wolcott in 7th District, 3000 W. Fulton in the 13th District and 5000 W. Gladys in the 15th District...all expected to survive. This morning had one at 100th State in the 5th District with a leg wound.
This morning had a double fatality when a car hit a church in the 1500 block of west 59th st. Both taken to Stroger Hospital.
It is absolute chaos right now on the Zones and CFD frequencies. Ambulances running all over the city passing each other up to get to runs. I'm sure most are heat related now as temperatures are soaring. As stripes said in previous post, get the popcorn out for this one...and it's only 1PM!

Do you think Chicago will get the 2016 Olympics with all that goes on there?
Dude, Rio de Janeiro is still in the running...

"Soundex" , it's when you run a person's name in the computer by the way it sounds in English, and it finds matches accordingly. In our computers at work we can do this (and usually do) if the name is read over the air and it's hard to spell. If you can "tell" the computer how it sounds and include a DOB or other specific information, it can usually find the person.

Rain, rain go away.....

The recent bad weather has sort of kept a lid on things for the past few days, but of course as soon as the sun comes out, it all starts up again. On a personal note, hope everyone is safe from the tornado outbreak .
Seems the northside is getting their fair share as of late as had a shooting up in 24th District on Zone 11 at a gas station, 2 shot last night in the 2700 block of North Monticello in 25th District on Zone 12, and of course not to be outdone, had a shooting last night in the 3rd District at 7300 block of south University. This one I caught on Zone 7, male shot in the back.
Looks like CBS 2 has their map updated again: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=e...1.79384,-87.61734&spn=0.457659,0.933838&z=10:

Not in my favorite zone, well I guess its truily citywide now.

Any word on digital mirgaration?

CFD may be switching by years end. Some additional low-power simplex frequencies in the UHF-T band have to be acquired. Some radios are being programmed already.

Zone 6..never dissapoints

Sipping on my morning coffee and checking up on the latest tragedies throughtout the area, Zone 6 starts popping at 1058 hrs. with a bank robbery at Archer Bank 5800 block of South Archer Ave. Male white in his late 40's with what appeared to be a weapon in a Wal Mart bag took an undetermined amount of USC and fled. Some businesses and a witness saw him fleeing in a vehicle that was parked near by.
At 1121 hours, 20 year old male was shot in his right thigh by unknown male black wearing the "uniform of the day"..white t-shirt, blue jeans..LOL! Amb. 58 transported him to Holy Cross Hospital.

CFD EMS uses yellow XTS5000R M3s on those T-Band Digital simplex freqs, or they were last year at the Air & Water show.

Negative..we were using the new Digital frequencies which is currently labeled on our "canary radios" as SIM-NO and SIM-SO, but will be re-labeled EMS-North and EMS-South when all the reprogramming occurs.
The Digital Simplex frequencies were not determined as of two weeks ago, but their are radios that are re-labeled but just awaiting all the simplex frequencies to be programmed. The Batallion Chiefs, Deputy District Chiefs and all above ranks as well as EMS Field Officers, EMS Assistant Deputy Chief Paramedics and all above ranks will have encryption available to use. It showed on the display as Zone EMSS (EMS Secure Mode) as an example. You'll know if a radio has the Encrypted Mode by it's color..Yellow faced radios-No...Black-faced radios-Yes. Info was updated in the Database.
