1855 hours: I receive a call about 12 patrol units(County and OSP) going north on 71 past the 100mile marker. I jump on the old scanner and sure enough, 3 males running from a 10-42(robbery) somewhere south of Columbus. They get to I-70E over the Scioto River and 1 white male bails into the river. He is seen in the middle of the river bobbing up and down then a few minutes later hes under the water.... Has not been seen since about 1915 hours. Got rescue boats dragging the river now and having problems with ice on the boat ramps. Looks like its gonna be a 10-18/20(DOA/Drowning) Im sure this will be all over the 10 and 11 o'clock news

I heard some cops on private call talking about this last night. One of them was sitting there on guard duty watching the spot where the guy drowned, talking to another guy who was telling him what happened. Both of them found the whole situation rather amusing, and neither one could figure out why the first two suspects were satisfied with surrendering but the third thought he could get away somehow.

I wonder if maybe being from out of town, he made the decision to jump before he realize there was a river down there. Not that that's a better decision, but maybe he thought it was just a ravine full of leaves or something. Either way, good video on the news to watch .

On the Wednesday morning news, they said CFD Dive members recovered the body of the 3rd suspect not far from where he went under.
