home patrol - OKC

Hello all .. new to posting, I purchased a uniden home patrol last week, got it on friday, sent it back few hour later, after contacting scanner masters they told me okc police / fire was encripted thats why the home patrol would not pick it up. Not sure i believe this, i listen to good traffic through radio reference and have friends who listen through Phone Apps. waiting for a reply from scanner masters where i purchased it. dose anyone know if okc police / fire is encripted ?

OKC is not encrypted. However it is an EDACS system and uses ProVoice, which the Home Patrol (or any other scanner) will not monitor.

In the OKC instance, there is a solution; please see the note at the top of the section dealing with the OKC Police.

thanks, would it be accurate in saying this is how radio reference is able to provide a live feed ?
