Just got the HP-1 and everything I've been able to find indicates you do not need the extreme upgrade to enable unit ID alpha tagging. However, when I try to save the unit ID on the radio, the button remains grayed out. I've tried holding on the channel, department, and system (all 3, 2, or 1). I've tried to save while reviewing the replay. Any thoughts, or is this really an extreme upgrade option that is not documented as such?

Are you in a favorite or the entire DB? I think it's only available in a Fav. I do within Sentinel, though I did do 1 once in the radio, I emphasize ONCE.

Tried from both favorite and the entire database. I can't see the unit id tab in sentinel.

Ok, so I can see the radio id tag in sentinel (just wasn't looking hard enough) I'm going to try to write the id's I've determined to the scanner and see if that enables the button.

Works only with extreme...2.03 firmware update implies extreme is not needed for this feature but it does not work on non-extreme unit (I have both).

Sorta thought that. Oh, well, can't complain too loudly. Got the scanner on a pricing error (somebody dropped the 4 from the price so it was $69 plus shipping).

Adding a Unit ID to a system

Select the star and pencil icon, double click the favorite list you want to edit, in the left pane hi-light the system, at the top of the right pane select the "UIDs" tab, click the green plus sign at the top, double left click the hi-lighted cell, enter the UID name, hit tab and enter the UID number, click the red x at the top to close, click OK to save. Write your favorites to the HP-1. Don't forget to set the Unit ID Display to mode 1 or 2 in the Display Options menu item of the HP-1. Also I do not have the extreme upgrade.

I know, brand new in box. Seems to have been their last one, since they were showing out of stock when I checked to make sure they wouldn't come back and ask for more money when someone noticed the error. The site is brand smart USA if anyone else wants to check.

I would guess that it is out of stock because they noted the error, or everybody scarfed them up while they could.
Hey, you saved more than enough money to pay for the Extreme update!!
