• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

A good place to start, try the Demo here at the link.

Demo
I was looking at getting this unit, but after checking out the demo I am not so sure any more. I entered my zip code 77872 in Texas and it does not show reception for the DPS (Highway Patrol) how can I make it pick up those frequencies or any others that I may be interested in such as Parks and Wildlife or comercial companies?

Thanks,

Richard

The demo doesn't match 100% what the unit will receive (it only brings up the local channels). 77872 will include DPS and other statewide agencies in the unit itself. Everything in RRDB (other than encrypted, data, depreciated, "other" and unreceivable stuff) is in the HomePatrol-1.
