You could also consider a seat bolt mount. I have used them in a variety of applications, and they can be had nowadays for scanner/phone use for about $25 on Amazon, or even at mountguys.com

Here's the Amazon link for the one I am currently using: Amazon.com: Arkon Smartphone Seat Rail or Floor Car Truck Mount for Apple iPhone 6 Plus 6 5 5S 5C Samsung Galaxy Note 4 3 2 Galaxy S5 S4: Cell Phones & Accessories

Took me 5 minutes to install in my daily driver, and holds any of my handhelds fine with just the stock holder attached. I will add that the stock holder isn't enough for a 436 if you have one of the bulky cases.

Come to think of it, this comes with a plate for floor mounting, so you could mount it to a desk or table too.

I don't want to mess around with the seat anchors because with my luck something will go wrong like the screw not going back on or get stripped whatever cause this is an old car. As it is I have to be careful of things loosening up and or falling off in this car so I don't want to contribute to this.

Uniden Base Model

I think a base model would be great. The price range would probably be a bit higher than the portable and mobile models, with added features (better speaker, IF out, filters, spectrum analyzer, video out, multiple antenna out, etc) - more in the range of $500-$1000.

Uniden used to make desktop/base models (kind of). Check out these past models:

It would be nice to have a Uniden model with some of the features from the below scanning receivers:

Isn't the Home Patrol considered a base unit?

Found something on eBay that might help keep your 436 from falling over. He custom makes the stands by hand. They look pretty well made.

Tabletop Stand for Uniden BCD436HP Bearcat Digital Handheld Scanner Made in USA | eBay

tHANKS for that info. I think the main problem is that thick coax going to the ST-2 antenna. I now got an HP-2 and that fits the bill a little better but that bulky cable doesn't help.

I may consider the 536 or wait to see what that Whistler 1095 is like.
