I'm looking at the database and it shows 31 freqeucnies all in the same SmartNet system. Motorola systems can only have up to 28 frequencies.

There's gotta be a mistake.

Inside of the circuit....
I would be willing to bet that they just looked at the FCC license and put in all of the frequencies. You are correct that those systems can only have a maximum of 28 channels.

Here in Sacramento California there is a system with TWO SITES. Each site has an active control channel going. One thought I have; from your list of 31 frequencies, have you checked to see if there is more than one active control channel?

Good luck,
George

I'm in a different part of the state, but if there's more than 1 control channel, then each system or "zone" should be listed separately.

So if either one is interoperable, then why spend the money to upgrade to digital?

Either there's more than one site that has seperate frequencies and control channels, or some of the frequencies are used conventionally for data, MDT's, or other functions seperate from the trunked system. If you have a scanner that uses the control channel only method of scanning, then it isn't an issue; you just need the control channels and the scanner will put the call on the proper frequency, whatever it may be.

If only one control channel is active at a time, wouldn't that make 28?

The 28 limit includes the CC, being a CC is an asignment to one of the 28 slots, if you asign another channel to be the CC then the old one becomes a VC. No matter how you play with it there are only 28 channel slots.

Although 5 hours away. If it is a smartzoned system ie: not simulcast throughout the county then they could have 15/15 and perhaps one simplex/standard repeat.

They may also be licensed on them and use the "overflow" 3 for tacitcal operations either in standalone repeaters or simplex.

I live in Tallahassee. I think it might be the case of a list dump. Some of the frequencies are sending out telemetry data, sounds like a modem.

Only digital system in Tallahassee is a federal in the 400 MHz range. I have only heard a control signal one frequency at a time.

See http://radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=352

If any body has a question I will try my best to answer it.
Please do note I only live in Tallahassee, I do not use the system in any way shape or form besides listening to it.

What's the system ID - I'll let you know what's going on.
