Hello

I have to program a NAC into my radio Shak PRO 197. I was just wondering is the NAC the first 4 digit code or the 3 diget code? if it is the 3 digit code the NAC is 77c. How would I type in 77c? I would appreciate any help.

Thanks
John

Once again, I think that you are confusing talkgroup ID's with NAC codes. The numbers in the Dec and Hex columns are talkgroup ID's, NOT NAC's. You use the number in the Dec column for the talkgroup ID (TGID) for a talkgroup in a trunked system. The only place you use an NAC on a Pro-197 is for the squelch code on a P25 conventional frequency. If you upload the file to your scanner that I created back in Post #7 in the Ohio forum, you will not have to worry about any of that and you will see the proper way to enter the information. Please read the private message that I sent you.

Is this a conventional system or a trunked system?

If conventional, the link W3JMC referred to will work if programming manually. Otherwise, using one of the three database programs it's found in the program.

If trunked, you don't need the NAC. All you need are to Talk Group ID's (TGID) for the agencies you want to listen.

Looks like Tvenger is trying to steer you in the right direction. I see your OP and previous replies are from 12/21. Have you got things straight now? Just asking since I don't see you haven't posted a resolution yet.
