I tried searching this area but i only see 2 pages of topics? Did something happen to the rest of the pages in this sub-forum?

My question is, I would like to make a playlist for Temecula California and Banning California "Riverside county" and I see that they are trunked systems. Im a little confused as to how to add these systems manually as a playlist. I am mainly only concerned with LAW and TACS. I searched youtube videos but there is nothing to guide me. Can someone please tell me how to use this site to find the frequencies and add them as a trunked system and just have them in a playlist for each city?

Thanks in advance.

What model scanner are you using? Each scanner has its own procedures, but in general you program the trunking system in, then add the talkgroup(s) into a playlist. If using software, it depends on the software.

if anything you want to listen to is encrypted you are not going to hear it anyway because alll the scanners made up until now do not decode encryped transmissions.

Look like they are encrypted so no sense in wasting time and effort.

You should be using the radio shack ezscan equivalent software to program that radio. That radio has,an onboard nationwide database. Might need updated with a download to the most current info.
I think it is called iScan in the radio shack version.

You don't need stuff from the website, just update the database in that software, and everything you need is there. Just pick the systems you want and import them to a scanlist.

If your radios database is up to date, you can program it on the radio without the software.

Thanks but thats the problem, the EZScan software has the import tab, by city, etc.. but when import, it does not give me the option to specify a favorites list. It just dumps the frequencies in there and classifies then as playlists called "Law", Law Talk, etc.. not just 1 specific city that I can select to scan.

In Ezscan (you must have a whistler upgraded pro-668) , because I don't remember this being available via IScan . go to library import tab and select "PREFERED" as the method, then you can pick and choose what you want and put it in any scanlist you want.

Possibly, I know you can go from trx-2 to a pro-668 on unofficial ws1080 firmware. but both of those use ezscan and not the abandoned iscan that is way behind in updates.

GrandpaFrank - first you should update everything on your scanner, then In the main menu select PLAYLISTS then make ONE for Temecula and one for Riverside. then goto your Software and program the PLAYLISTS in the software as well. then use the IMPORT tab to Load the frequency for Riverside and Temecula by selecting California then the City, after importing you have to go back to the Scanner then manually go through Browse Library , USA, California, Cities, Riverside and Temecula then Agencies, Catagories, Systems, Its Important to note the frequencies you are Looking for may be listed BOTH as a System and a Category and Category has its OWN City tab. and If its a Regional System like EBRCS it will have multiple city and county that you MAY NOT be interested in, so you have to go through and only Select the systems you are interested in. I suggest updating Weekly for best results.
