Any thoughts? thanks

If it's a trunked system, do you really care? You know what frequencies are in the system.

I've asked this question in the past also -- there are definitely reasons for wanting to know what frequency is currently active.

On a related note, and as I've said before, for P25 Phase 2, Uniden took the time to tell you if the conversation is in slot 0 or slot 1 -- that's of far less value than the current voice frequency. What's the point of that?

Maybe someday Uniden will give us a user configurable display so we decide for ourselves what we want to see (or not) - and what size the text should be.

As much as I tout the merits of the x36HPs, I also miss the ability of a configurable display. I also like to sometimes follow the control and voice channel frequencies during trunk system monitoring. Now if you run ARC536PRO, ProScan, or even the Siren App, this info is readily available. So its obviously there, and I wish that Uniden would make that option available in the units themselves on the displays.

In light of the fact that the display is not configurable, I guess someone had to make a decision as to what information would be displayed and what would not, give the limited amount of real estate on the screen. I too use Proscan, along with my 536, and while it's nice to see the frequency, it's not imperative to the operation of the scanner.

I think we've all become accustomed to the "old days" of trunked monitoring on those Radio Shack scanners that had no information available on the display except for the frequency. Perhaps some future firmware update will address the issue; I much prefer that Uniden spend time on implementing the issues that have yet to be addressed, like the Siren application for Android and completion of the Analyze function to bring it up to par with the HP-1 and HP-2 series.

Some (like the OP) want more information displayed. Some say there is already too much info displayed. Uniden simply cannot win in that catch 22. Personally, I think they chose what to display well.

I agree--- I happen to think that given the amount of "real-estate" available on the display, they did a pretty good job. with all the units--- the 436, the 536, the HP-1 and the HP-2. Perhaps sometime in the future, configurable screens will be available, but this is clearly not the time--- Uniden has bigger fish to fry right now.

And let's not forget that there is some flexibility --- perhaps less with the 436 than with the other units, to at least change the font sizes on some of the displays--- you may get a little less information, but the info that you do get is more comfortably viewable at a great distance in the mobile environment.

When I was out driving in a friend's car, with a nicely mounted 536, I noticed him squinting towards the display as he drove. It suddenly dawned on me to hit Channel-Function-9, and of course the display went from the smaller 5 line to the larger 3 line display--- less information, but also less squinting. He was so happy at the little trick that he had overlooked, that dinner was on him.

So let's not forget, we do have a little flexibility-- not as much as some would like, but a little that folks sometimes overlook.
