Hullo.
I just bought a 325 P2 from Amazon. I would like to buy the updates available, DMR and such. I have a BANK OF MONTREAL (BMO) MASTER CARD Debit card which I use for everything, including buying this scanner, no problems.

I tried to buy the updates, logged in, registered, typed in the card #.

"THERE WAS AN ERROR PROCESSING....update key.

If I had to buy a pre authorized credit card it wants a name.

Is their any way to do this with MC Debit? Do I call scannermaster?

I've been buying UNIDEN for 30+ yrs. CS wasn't great the last time I dealt with them.... hope for good here.

Do you use PayPal? Scanner Master accepts PayPal. Not sure if they ship to Canada, better call and ask.
"Shipping" does not apply here, as the issue is the purchase of one of the paid upgrades, not of a scanner. There have been a number of posts regarding the paid upgrades, where someone outside the U.S., unable to use their credit card, have been able to work through ScannerMaster to purchase the upgrades.

I suspect, but obviously don't know, it has to do with being a debit card based on Canadian dollars when making a purchase in US dollars. Especially if you used it as a debit rather than credit card.

I was just in London, ON using a credit card with no issues so I know it works in that direction.

I received a call back from Scannermaster. I bought 2 scanners from them, upgrades software over the years.

Their prices are good, they have excellent CS. What stops me from doing business with him is shipping and customs.

I would recommend them highly.

When I worked in logistics I had tools and ways and friends and ways to limit customs and taxes.

I'm just a regular dude now, the rules regarding customs and fees and brokers is cloudy.

I ordered my radio on Amazon on Sat and got it Sunday, 24 hours. No hassle

You're not dealing with shipping when buying an upgrade key. The dealer will register it on Uniden's site, purchase the key, then email that to you, along with a receipt. Now, whether they charge a 'processing' fee or not I don't know. I also would not know if the transaction would be subject to customs charges as they might be for a purchase of an actual scanner.

I also did the same when I purchased my 325p2, from amazon.ca. I purchased DRM and NXDN from Uniden themselves with my Interact/Debit card (PC Financial) with no issues. I prefer to buy from Uniden since other places make more money with the upgrades. And PC Financial is not really a Bank. They are only online banking owned by Loblaws INC.
