What would you recommend to clean and shine a pocket scanner plastic case. I have the Radio Shack Pro-39 which I don't use much but after Katrina I plan on getting it cleaned up, programmed correctly, and storing it in my emergency bag. I don't like Fantastic. It's too sticky. I could wax it with Pledge. But it needs cleaning first with a Q-Tip and some substance.
Thanks.

little bit of soap and water.

Since that scanenr is far beyond the warrenty period I would recomend (if you feel like your able) to remove the two halves of the case and wash them with a mild soap and water.
Simply use your hands as the cleaning frush
Or you can use a soft nail brush to get al the little areas.
Then of course let it dry COMPLETELY.
And you should eb good to go..
TO keep it looking nice I like Maguires quick wax.
Its a spray on that works nicely. And wont damage the plastic.

Aslo works great for clearing up small scratches in eyeglasses.

Depending on how badly encrusted with dirt, I would either agree with the above Gentleman (or woman), or, if it's really bad, a bit of white spirit.

I've had very good results with lightly dampening some paper towel with Windex window cleaner, then wiping the radio with that. However, be careful, as it could cause labels, and letters, to rub off, if used too agressively. I've never had a problem using it on radios, or computer equipment.

Armor-All Cleaner works well, again being careful around lettering. If you wanted your radio to look really good you could also use Armor-All Protectant but it would probably make your unit slip right out of your hand......and I just hate it when my unit slips out of my hand!

Simple Green works well to clean things up. That is what I use in my shop.

Groan.

But now you owe me a keyboard. I spit Kool-Aid all over it.

If your clear plastic screen is scrathed up use tooth paste to get rid of the scratches...Dont beleave me...Try it out first on a scratched up CD....

There's also this liquid stuff you can get at hobby stores for polishing clear model parts, like airplane canopies and things like that. If the scratch is really deep, you can also get a special sanding stick that is made for the same thing. It has three steps of grit, and you work your way up with each one, then use the liquid polish last.

To Flyingwolf,

Better to have spit Kool-Aid on your keyboard than on your monitor. Keyboards are a lot cheaper to replace!

To Buckskinner33,

You're right, I absolutely left myself open. There's nothing wrong with that, I've nothing to hide. Now, what's with your avatar? An overweight Barney The Dinosaur? And after watching him for a few seconds it looks like he's sufferning from 'unit slip' as well!

Now, let's keep this family-oriented...... !
