I have a bunch of frequencies in my BC125AT SS file. I'd like to print it so I can have a hard copy. Nothing I've found recognizes this type of file and so far I've been unable to print it. Does anyone know of a way to print this file?

Copy and paste the frequencies into a excel spreadsheet and then print a copy of the spreadsheet.

I don't have Excel. I tried to copy and paste, but channel numbers aren't included. Have you done this successfully?

Have not done it in awhile but I believe so. You could try copy and paste to notepad and then print from that. I will double check when I get home.

Depending on you computer and how many frequencies I have used screen printed (select area) and then paste into notepad. You might have to scroll the list for more pages.

If the file is the one used to program that radio its format is unique and not likely to be easily read by other editing/viewing program unless its a binary editor. Then you get to see what's in the file and all the gibberish around the readable text.

Glad the screen captures worked for you.

I have LibreOffice. I tried ann failed trying to figure out how to open the ss file in it. That is beyond my ability. I was looking for a quick and easy way to print it, so screen capture is quick and easy.

I swear by Open Office! Altho it is somewhat limited compared to MS Word, it just about does it all and yes - FREE! Great word processor, too, that will accept all MS, Word, Doc, pdfs, almost everything. Very versatile program!

Without loading the programing software for the BC125 I am going to make some assumptions. LibreOffice does not have the ability to open the file because the file extension of "ss" is not know to it so it does not know the file structure. Very common for the radio programming software we use to program radios to have a file structure unique to that radio. Sometime the programing software will have builtin print ability or export to 'csv' or text file functions. Those files can be opened in other programs for formatting and arranging the data to print. Sometimes when the programing software is up and running with the data showing you can drag select and copy, then paste into another running programing like a word processor or spreadsheet program. That does not always work as the programing has to be well-behaved in programing jargon and I don't know the underlying requirements.

Changing the file name extension does not help as the underlying structure of the data has not changed, but the opening program thinks its a text file if the extension is 'txt' then 'blows up' on open or puts gibberish on the screen because it not a text file.

Sometime print screen is all you might have to work with and within it's limits it can be good enough and easy.

Moving data around between programs/printer/whatever is a learned experience. I'm hoping the above has improved your "ability". :)

Good Luck,
Mike

Mike, Thank for very much for the interesting in depth explanation! I learned something. No option in the BC125AT software to export to csv or anything else. It would have been nice to include that. Looks like print screen will have to do.

Hi, many ways to skin the cat, everybody have prefered way to catalog things. Here is my way.
Download WPS office 2016 WPS Office 2016 Free Edition it is look alike of the Ofiice 2016 and is free and also include .PDF reader !
Open Office and Libre Office should do the job as well, my personal preference for now is WPS Office, nice modern look and 100% compatibility with anything MIcrosoft.
Open 125 SS file and select name, frequency and modulation then copy
Open spreadsheet in WPS office and paste, sort the with of the columns. all done. Save as 125xyx or blah blah blah frequencies if you will use for multiple Radios.
Then select what you want from spreadsheet and print selected, bingo. Also if you program another radio do it the same in reverse.
All my Unidens and TRX-1 frequencies are in spreadsheet form for some time now, different spreadsheet for diferent services but all in one file. Atually i read this advice from another member of RR forum long time ago, thank you.
No need to export or import .csv just copy and paste selected frequencies back into the Scaner software, any scanner any software
Also it is easy to copy interesting frequencies from the Web into the spreadsheet first for cataloging,

Thanks! Since I already have Libre, I used that and pasted into a spreadsheet, but the channel numbers didn't print. What is the trick for that?
