If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi, wondering how to program my CP200XLS to " Key Up when someone talks". Also, c an somebody explain the Quick-Call II where you can program multipule Tone sets, not confusing the Quick Call System II. I can program as many tones as I want, and select a channel to store it on. Does this mean I can program (EX. 21 Tone Sets on 1 Channel?) thanks mike,

The key up tone is usually only for when you use mdc1200 on a personality set mdc 1200 and set the pre setting and set everything at the lowest setting where the annoying "squak" is minimal.
With quick call II you only can set up a few sets of tones. You can have different sets per a channel but only 5 or 4 quick call systems. Each channel will only get one set. Not multiple quick call systems.

ok, If I go under Signaling, to Quick Call II Systems, I have the option for four (4) Quick Call System channel available. If I go down to Quick Call II, I have the option to put as many Tone Sets as I want, but after that it says Choose Quick Call II System, and I have to choose 1 of the 4 Systems, Then I have to Choose a Reverse Personality, which is a Channel in my radio.

My Main Channel is what our fire dispatch, tones us out on. Can I program all these tones in the Quick Call II, and assign those tones to the same channel?

Example:

If I programmed the following Tones into the Quick Call II Settings, can I assign them all to the same channel?

Station 1
Station 3
Fire Rescue 3
Fire Station 3
Station 7
Station 6
Station 12
Station 13

But my County Dispatches on OCFD 1.

Can I assign all these Tones to OCFD 1?????

Thanks Michael.

You can program all those sets to one channel. Also you can put them on other channels. But you cannot have more then one quick call II system per a channel. It's like mdc1200. You can have two mdc1200 systems on the same channel, only one is allowed. Try having a little fun and see what all you can do. Make sure you save a good codeplug if something goes wrong. but experiment and see what all you can do.

You say "key up tone" Would you be referring to a talk permit tone? If so, you can't do it on a CP200, but side tone on an MDC preamble, you might be able to.
