How to put TRX-2 in Trunking search mode and not scan mode?

Everything has been updated to the latest using the Whistler software.

I'm just setting up a TRX-2 with several trunking systems in my area. I used the software to select the trunking systems locally and selected the entire system and then downloaded to radio. Because I only want to listen to these trunking systems I selected, I set location to no location. I hear a few calls over an hour but nothing like I would expect from multiple systems covering everything from business couriers to city workers. I have squelch set to 6.

I would like to know how to edit the trunking info in the scanner/software to search for all ID's and not just the ones in the database. I know with older Radio Shack Trunking scanners, you just hit the search button while it's scanning the trunking ID's and it switched to search all ID's.

Any good tutorials on features like these?

Also some Uniden scanners have features to search for new ID's even one's that the scanner can't decode digital voice systems to see who's using that system and it's activity load/usage. Does the TRX-2 have any features like that or will they be added in the future?

The control program demo for TRX1 & 2 looks good for logging known Trunking ID's while the scanner is scanning. Any tutorials on using any advance features with that software?

Thanks, I've just added wildcards to all the trunk systems to see if that makes a difference in activity. I added to the existing talk groups. I'm assuming I don't have to delete the specific ids that was originally there for this to work.

Is their anyway for either the radio or the remote control demo software to identify any new talk ids besides just looking at the log and comparing it to know talk groups?

The remote control demo software can save logs. How can you reload the log from the computer to view? Any advantage to this log file besides viewing for activity?

Easier and faster in ezscan but here is what I just figured out, it should work for you.

press menu

scroll to Program menu

select edit system scroll through to choose the system, press SEL (wait for it to load)

edit system, select add talkgroup

add TGRP

select enter ID type: WILDCARD

enter select to save

press menu as needed to back out.

I usually program the known TG's and then add wildcard for both TG and RID with a long delay 10-15 sec and record flag set. Then all unknowns will be saved to be reviewed when moving the SD card to the computer, as listening to recordings and deleting them are too slow in the scanner.

This is very helpful. I add wildcards for both TG and RID with a long delay 15.1 sec and added rec for only the wildcards on both TG and RID. I had already uploaded the known TG's from the Whistler software from my area. They (database) had nothing in the RID of any trunking system in my area but it now has the wildcard with 15.1 sec delay and rec set. So it should only record "new" TG's in my area with the scanner set this way? The delay on all others are set to the default of 2 sec.

I'm trying this now all today but one thing I'm noticing and I'm not sure it has anything to do with the changes I made but on one trunking system, I sometimes see it stop and the screen flashes very quickly for a few seconds but I don't hear anything. When I look at the Whistler control demo connected by the USB cable, it shows in the log it's 000.0000 MHz and it says "slot 256, color:"

Does anyone know what this means because I've seen slot 1 & 2 but not 256?

Slot and color don't matter to the scanner even though the radio will spit it out. for DMR you just put it under analog with the frequency, set DMODE to digital and Mode to DMR. NXDN is similar except set mode to NXDN.

This is for a VHF EDAC system thats not digital so I thought it was strange to get the 000.0000 MHz plus 256 slot message in the control program while it's briefly flashing strangely on radio screen itself while scanning that VHF analog trunking system. Just wondering if anyone seen that before on a TRX-2.

Thanks. The field method worked for adding wilcard. Would be nice if it only hit on new TG's.

Each TG and RID can be assigned to a scanlist. Make the wildcards also assigned to a different scanlist. If you have the TGs assigned to scanlist 10 and the wildcards to scanlist 10 and 11 you unselect scanlist 10 and select scanlist 11 to only hit on the wildcards.
