Hi, been out of the scanner business for years but when I look up the counties how can I tell if they're digital or not? Thanks in advance for all the help.

Pull up the FCC License
Emission Designator - The RadioReference Wiki

Is using the RRDB
If it lists PL Tones - it is Analog
If it lists DPL Tones - it is Analog
If it lists NAC Codes - it is P25

Under Trunking
A = Analog
D = P25 (Digital)
E = Encrypted

As for DMR - Sorry, out of luck using a Scanner Alone.

Ok, I see the correct 'mode' in the talk groups of some counties. What if a county doesn't let me see the talk groups?

What specific system are we talking about?
If the talkgroups are known and listed then anyone should be able to view them.
