To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi!
I am trying to receive some local utility digital comms using my new DM-32UV radio with no success.
I am able to ear comms on my old Baofeng DM-860 (a look alike of DM-1801): in this radio I tune to the correct frequency, set the Timeslot, CC and on the display I see the group and the unit speaking.
No necessity of setting the correct group or other.
On DM-32UV I can't ear any comms with the same settings. If I transmit in simplex with the DM-860, I can receive my transmission on DM-32UV but the other no.

Anyone can help me?
thanks
Roberto

Not sure exactly how its worded in the baofeng software but it sounds like you dont have your Contacts or RX group list set correctly. With motorola you make a 'contact' for a group call (talkgroup id). You then make a RX Group List and add whatever contacts you want to that list. If you post a copy of your codeplug I can take a look.

Thank you!
I attach a screenshot of DM-860 contact and group and a channel: I do not need to know the group when I wish to receive a digital channel.
Also there are three screenshot of DM-32UV, showing channel, rxgroup and vfo and the two Codeplugs zipped.
I can't decode the signal when there is transmission (I ear it ob DM-860 and I see the bar on DM-32UV display).
There is a way to receive a given frequency not knowing the group?

Thank you again!

Oh, I misunderstood what you were asking originally. I thought you knew which talkgroups you wanted to monitor. If you're wanting to hear all talkgroups you need to enable what is called "promiscuous mode". I don't have the software in front of me but here's a snippet I found online (Baofeng DM-32UV enable Promiscuous Mode - Offgrid Technology) that should steer you in the right direction.

To turn on Promiscuous Mode using the DM-32UV CPS (Customer Programming Software), follow these steps:

  1. Open the Baofeng DM-32UV CPS software on your computer.
  2. On the left-hand menu, click on Optional Features.
  3. In the top tabs, click on the Digital tab.
  4. Uncheck these two options:
    • Private Call Match
    • Group Call Match
By unchecking both of these boxes, the radio will no longer filter transmissions based on your Talkgroup or private call settings. You’ll now be able to hear any DMR transmission on that frequency and timeslot!

  1. Click OK, then write the updated codeplug back to your radio.

See if that works for you. If not we can dive a little deeper into it.

Cheers!
