• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

If an analog type II trunk system patches 2 channels together (simulcast) to put two seperate departments (talk groups)on same channel during an incident such as when the display channel bar shows TGID: 123 456 for example - how do you program that to put a name to it?

I entered the first number already as a new talkgroup....I would like to label it as "simulcast" or something to that effect and assign an alert beep to it.

In this case the first number shows up 'only' during the patching together of the channels (departments), and the second number is an actual talk group (department) I already have programmed.

Of course, it rarely ever comes up, so I haven't had the opportunity to try it out.

Turn off ID search or lockout the patch group, your XT series radio will pickup the transmissions on either of the two patched talkgroups.
