So my HP2 touchscreen stopped responding to touch commands so I tried to reset it by pulling the power and reseated the SD Card. No joy there so I thought it might be the ribbon cable. I removed the front panel and pulled the ribbon cable and tried to reinsert it. The problem is that the small white plastic retaining clip will not hold so I cannot reconnect the cable.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? I found a picture by Jon W. at OneDrive that shows the cable in question.

The white clip needs to be lifted up about 90 degrees. It might take a few tries but the ribbon should slide back in right underneath the white clip about 2-3mm. Once evenly in just push the white retainer clip back down. You should be able to tug on the ribbon a little without it coming loose.

Also, there has been an issue with the touch screen not responding because of some foreign object like dirt getting stuck between the edge of the screen and front case.

I think the clip on my radio must be broken, it will not stay down. I wasn't sure if this type clip slid back and forth or was just a press-down type.

I guess my radio is going off to Henrietta...

The clip will not stay down unless the ribbon is seated properly. If the ribbon is seated correctly you should feel a lot more resistance when closing the clip down. I've struggled with this a few times. But if its broken, then you gotta pack it up.

Well, I took another stab at the HP-2 before sending it in for return and was able to get the ribbon cable to seat properly after several attempts and all is well with the world again. I still don't see how the retaining clip stays down with the cable in place but it does.

The touch screen works properly again and life is good! Thanks tumegpc!

The retaining clip requires the thickness of the cable in order for it to latch shut and lock. No cable, no tension on the latch mechanism!
Glad to hear all is well again though!
