I recently learned that HSC Electronics' store in Sacramento was supposed to close for good on 9/15/07. There has been a flood of support from customers and that has caused the parent company to keep it open only until 12/15/07. Either there will be a buyer, possibly by a group of customers, or the store will close.

This is considered to be a surplus electronics store and has stuff from new to junk. The things there scanner listeners might be interested in include some rubber antennas, coax, wall warts and components. There's computer stuff too.

This is really a bummer. These types of stores are dwindling fast. Do you know if the HSC Sunnyvale store is also closing? I grew up in the South Bay with Halted, Haltek, and U-Do Electronics, just to name a few. That's when it was all about kits. Those good old days are fading fast..

Funny thing, I was told HSC is only closing the Sacramento store. The Santa Rosa & Santa Clara stores are scheduled to remain open. But I was also told that the Sacramento store $upports the other two. But the leadership is in Santa Clara, and they have so many restrictions on the Sacramento store it is killing the business. If all that is true, I wouldn't expect the other stores to remain open too long after they close Sacramento.

I've been here in Sacramento long enough to remember places like "California Radio & TV" (later known as MarVac's), Zack or Zackit Electronics (which evolved/split and left us with Metro Electronics) and Valley Electronics. With more people living here now, and more people interested in electronics, it makes me wonder what the heck is REALLY going on. To think we'll be down to only Metro. Oh yeah, we all need to $upport Ron down there when we can.

the sacramento store is being sold to make money to help support the other stores

the other stores are very slow and always losing money -

sac is a great halted money maker

so hsc (halted ) is using a great business model

instead of closing the stores that are losing money...

they will sell the profitable store so that the money losing stores can continue to stay open

when did the government start operating hsc?
