07/08/2024 8:15am Update - Rain and Wind both increasing in intensity, limbs on trees starting to fall. Electricity starting to go out in the area, so don't know how long will be online. Eye expecting to pass by very close or right over my location.

I haven’t had power since around 5 am, lost 40’ of wood fence, street covered in debris. Eye is over us right now, zero wind, no rain. Waiting for the other side of the storm to hit us.

07/08/2024 9:50am Update - Two separate fatalities reported in Houston area due to tree falling on homes. Highest wind gusts up to 93mph. Lots of trees down in Walker, San Jacinto, and Polk counties. 1.7 million without electricity in Houston, 22,000 without electricity in the lake area so far. Lights keep flickering at times.

07/08/2024 11:00am Update - 2.1 million without electricity in Houston, 45,000+ in lake area without electric. Eye still on track to pass right over my location. Little rain now, wind has picked up and expected to get worse over the next hour or so. Surprised I still have electricity but not expecting it to stay on as eye wall approaches.

Sadly have heard area EMS responding to several heart attack patients in the area, and more trees coming down all over, and the worst is yet to come. But amazed at all the idiots in Houston out driving around and getting stuck in high water and having to be rescued.

07-09-24 9:50am Update - Well the hurricane rolled thru, and we were on the worst part of the northeast side. Had about 2 1/.2 hours of intense winds up to 95mph+. Been 24 hours without electricity. Out of 91k meters in my service area, 82K are out, and they are saying 48-72 hours to restore as of this morning. Running on generator power now. Over 2 million with out power in southeast Texas.

My sub-division received heavy damage, over 40+ trees down, and around 15 homes with trees in them. Luckily I had no damage, antennas all survived.

For a Cat 1 hurricane, Beryl was very destructive.

Thank you for the updates. I am sorry you and so many others have had so much happen. Hopefully, things will get better soon.
As for the people getting out and driving into flooded areas, Houston is not the only place that happens.

I got power back yesterday, so out for about 36 hours. Got 3 42 gallon contractor bags full of debris so far. I'll start dragging the big stuff out to the curb later so when the county starts collecting it will be ready.

What's the status of radio systems in the path of the storm? Did any critical public safety systems experience any outages or damage?

Liberty County public safety had some issues after the storm passed thru, and I was unable to receive them all day yesterday. But they were back up this morning. That's the only county I know that had issues.
